The Sacrifice

14:04
I fail at Spanish and Chemistry now... my best subjects that are now my worse.  How'd that happen?!  Today I got my Spanish test back and found out I got a 76 which later became an 82 because I had to explain some mishaps (she still wouldn't give me full points though...)  I'm friggin' piss; there's gotta be something wrong with my head or something.

We had a chemistry quiz yesterday...  I got at least 2/10 of the multiple choice wrong.  I misread one of the question and for the other, I chose the correct choice but changed it last minute; don't you just hate when that happens?!  Then I wrote ionic bonds had polarity *facepalm*stupid.  Everyone around me probably got full points---Damn you Mr. 99 :X  This is total BS.

I went to volunteer at the office yesterday.  I had to file.  I really dislike filing; not only because the cabinets are right next to the stinky bathroom, but I just suck at it.  My boss gave me some papers that were paper clipped so I assumed they go together but I later found out, they were stapled by date, not by name.  I couldn't find one of the packets =_=

I got home from the library and watched Chungking Express.  It's a really old modern Chinese film, dated 1994 or 1995.  The storyline was based around two love forlorn cops and the plot revolved around romance as its theme.  I can't say I disliked the movie because I thought the first story was good and the overall movie was unique but it's a bit strange for a love story.  Then again, who wouldn't like a story about a cop who got dumped by his girlfriend, May of 5 years and is still attached, thus, continues to buy his girlfriend's favorite food, pineapples, everyday and only if the can expires May 1st, his birthday.  When he gets 30 cans, right before his birthday, he'll give up on her.  Then there's a woman who goes around in a raincoat, wig, and sunglasses; hires some Indians to help her smuggle drugs only to have them deceive her and runaway.  She goes around with a gun, asking around to find her traitors and even goes as far as to kidnap a shopkeepers daughter (this part was quite funny, the shopkeeper refuses to tell her information and when he goes to the back of the shop, leaving his young daughter on the counter, the woman just carries her away.)  The blackmail is successful and she goes shoot down some Indians.  The others chase her to get revenge for their fallen brethren but she escapes on a train and next thing you know, she's at the bar and the cop, wanting to give up on his ex, is determined to fall in love with the next woman who steps in... which is the drug-dealing lady.  It's funny that this whole thing happens in an interval of 2-3 days.  The other cop story was not as action-packed but was very funny; especially when the cop talks to his soap bar, towel and giant stuffed polar bear (which later becomes a Garfield but he looks through this and says to it "Look at you, when'd you become so dirty?  You used to be white and now you're all yellow.  And look at these scars (the whiskers); did you get into fights?"

Soup Kitchen

22:30

Since I was going into out today to get my letter for community service hours served at the AIDS Walk on May 17th, I decided to tag along with my religious friends to do some more volunteer work at the Soup Kitchen they go to, more or less, on most Saturdays. I didn't think it's actually be all the way in Manhattan though. I was told to arrive at the appointed destination at 7:30 but didn't arrive at the train station until 7:15 and even then, the train arrived five minutes before the deadline. I ended up being one of the earlier people there though, since Peter and his friends didn't show up yet and only Salvon (I think that's his name), the adult that would be driving was there. There was a total of of seven who had to fit in the car. The college student (never got his name), ended up being constrained within the back/trunk, the four guys squashed together in the passenger seats and I got the front. I felt bad since they made me sit in the front since I was a girl...=.= I generally prefer the back; I wouldn't mind sitting in the "trunk"; my past experiences have been quite enjoyable.

I learned that front seats need to be buckled down at all times and... only the number of people meant for the seats, are supposed to be situated; reason being, four people squashed in the middle is extending the limit and can result in hazardous injuries (I think the trunk should be unoccupied as well): The guys always kinda freak when we saw a bunch of cops everywhere. Salvon would try to sneak away by taking a different route, as to not distinguish attention. Suspiciously, there were a lot of cops. The only adult theorizes that the Hebrews were threatened with shell-bombings from the Muslims or some terrorist threat of the sort; his assumption being highly corrected with the appearance of tables containing many bottles of Gatorade---there was a marathon of some sort, later discovering "New York Roadrunners". With the arrival in Manhattan, I got a major headache from the sunlight blinding my eyes with the position of sitting in the front seat. I felt sort of sick as well, although I survived the trip without regurgitating.

The Soup Kitchen has various jobs and I just raised my hand when the rest of my group does. Josh and Cena showed up from ditching their Key Club event. We three, along with Solomon and Billy, got the job at the pantry where we stack a bunch of bagged food (they reminded me of goody bags) that are to be distributed without charge. It turned out to be harder than expected. The bags already contained packaged food such as a carton of milk, cereal, rice, and canned foods. We had to add the frozen foods; a bag/box of vegetables and sausage. The bags of vegetables just wouldn't fit through the small knotted opening of the bag so we accommodated with the boxed spinach first. Individual sausages were brought out and we thought it'd be okay to just put the sausages in each bag without the vegetables but were told that we need to get rid of the vegetables first. I got around; from the panicked-streak frozen food additions to back-breaking stacking and hurdling and passing the bags to make it easier for the workers giving the food out. Guests had a choice of eating breakfast or signing for the free bagged food. I was the only one who wore a knitted crocheted hoodie whereas everyone else were in shorts and T's, so it was quite embarrassing. I regret dressing as I did because I was sweating like crap and was afraid I'd give off body odor.

After the guests left, the volunteers had breakfast and the BCCC just hung around for the next hour. There was this one guy I met, his name was Will (I believe) who was watching us eat because that's what he does. We went to the instruments and since Peter was with his band, they were playing with the instruments. I wanted to learn the drums so Will ended up giving me a mini lesson... Drumming is hard... Counting is hard... Beating is hard... The college student, Josh, and I went next door to get some free ice cream samples but the college student ended up purchasing a cup because he felt bad.

I went to Broadway after to APICHA for my letter while everyone went to a friend, Bryant's, house. Dehydrated, tired, and sweating as I was, I went to my cousin's house. I hung out a bit and then went home.

Volenteer: Work for free (I wish it wasn't)

21:26
I was originally going to post this on Stray Dog... but CuteNews fcked up on me again... *sigh* so I'm posting it here.

Do to the requirement for graduation (in another 3 years), I found some volunteer work at a Assembly Council place a few days ago. I'll be going there for two hours after school on Fridays and today was my first day. What I basically need to do is sort papers and other little jobs. Today, the lady who accepted my employment, Stephanie made me sort out papers. I finished in the first 40 minutes and spent the next half hour listening to a New Utrech Global teacher express his complaints and concerns about one of his classes that had only two students who understood English (the others only knew their Chinese dialect). Really, I feel bad for the guy because it must be stressful having to teach a class that don't even understand the language you're talking in. I hope all goes well for him because Stephanie recommended him some possible translator. It seems that schools nowadays, probably can't higher bilingual/more teachers due to major cuts with the country's economic crisis and all. The next hour, I just sat there waiting for more jobs to do... listening in on the office workers talk about business stuff and complaints about a smell garbage. I had to copy a few papers and I never knew how complicated some copy machines can be. If you don't put the paper correctly, off by maybe a millimeter or some sort, the machine will print out a copy in landscape, rather than the desired portrait. Last thing I had to do was file some papers... what a complicated task as well... Most of the names I couldn't even find in the two crammed cabinets. I spent forever trying to find the folder names, returning and going over each cabinet a dozen times. In the end, I didn't finish and since my hours were up, I went home.
